Having introduced their squad to sponsors, partners and the media on Tuesday, Gintra continue preparing for the new season and officially welcome another signing: Nigerian forward Victoria Igbonoba, 21.
Tall, athletic and fast, she arrives with an ambitious goal: to become the team's leading scorer and fire them to victories. Igbonoba will wear the yellow-and-black number 41 shirt.
Victoria began her football journey in her hometown of Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria. Her talent was spotted early, enabling her to turn professional and gain international experience at a young age. Before Lithuania, she played in Benin, represented BIIK-Kazygurt and Ordabasy in Kazakhstan, and most recently played for Dudullu Spor in Turkey.
"I'm happy to join Gintra, a team that has dominated Lithuanian women's football for years and competes in the UEFA Women's Champions League. The club has a championship tradition, and I was inspired by its desire to improve while supporting my personal development. I'm a forward who loves scoring. I can play anywhere across the attack but feel best as a centre-forward," said the new signing.
Athletic, fast and determined, Victoria makes no secret of her ambition to be the driving force of the attack. She wants to finish as the team's leading scorer and help Gintra win both domestically and internationally.
"My strengths are power, speed and a passion for goals. I came with a clear objective: to lead the attack and help win more titles," she said resolutely.
Although she is only beginning to discover Šiauliai, Victoria appreciates its warmth and hospitality: "I feel very good here. People are friendly and helpful. I believe a great season awaits."
Club director Mantas Radavičius welcomed a newcomer who will strengthen the attack and bring something different to the team's play:
"Victoria is young, ambitious and motivated, with strong physical attributes. Her pace and athleticism will give us additional attacking power. Her desire to improve and aim high fits our philosophy perfectly. We look forward to seeing her demonstrate her ability on the pitch," he said.
Igbonoba could make her competitive debut this Saturday in Gintra's first official match of 2025, away to Riga RFS in the Baltic League.
