The champions faced the runners-up in round two of the 2025 Women's A League, and the yellow-and-blacks firmly defended their home ground.
At Gytariai Stadium, Gintra comfortably 4:0 (1–0 at half-time) swept aside Vilnius MFA Žalgiris-MRU.
Starting lineup: G. Vasilenko, R. Beal, I. Kuku, A. Mikutaitė, T. Romanovskaja, B. David, L. Kubiliūtė, V. Igbonoba (78' min. J. Blaževičiūtė), E. Šupelytė, L. Spenazzatto (65' min. C. Caliz), K. Johnson.
Goals:
Gintra: E. Šupelytė (31' min.), L. Spenazzatto (53' min.), K. Johnson (59' min.) and J. Blaževičiūtė (79' min.) one each.
The convincing win was overshadowed by Laura Spenazzatto's second-half shoulder injury. Medical examinations will provide further information about her condition.
Both teams began competitively, seeking an advantage and control of the game. After the first 15 minutes, the hosts took more initiative and began creating dangerous chances. The breakthrough arrived in the 31st minute, when Erika Šupelytė beat Meda Šeškutė with a skilful finish for 1–0.
Gintra held that narrow advantage at half-time. They dominated after the restart and were rewarded in the 53rd minute when Spenazzatto converted Kiyani Johnson's pass to make it 2–0.
The inspired Lithuanian champions kept going, and six minutes later Johnson headed in the third goal.
The visitors conceded again in the 79th minute. Justina Blaževičiūtė, who had entered the match only moments earlier, scored with her first touch for her first competitive Gintra goal, making it 4–0.
A two-week break follows this round. Women's A League action resumes on 13 April, when the Lithuanian champions travel to Širvintos to face also-unbeaten TransINVEST of Vilnius District.
