Gintra of Šiauliai have signed promising Lithuania youth international defender Aivė Andriuškevičiūtė, who turns 19 next month. The 176 cm player will wear number 21 in 2026.
She began football at just six. It became an integral part of her life from her first training sessions and defined the path she has followed ever since. She started at MFK Žalgiris and later represented FK Vilnius and MFA Žalgiris.
Seeking new experiences and development opportunities, she travelled to the United States and gained valuable sporting and life experience. She eventually decided to continue in Europe, closer to a familiar football culture and competitive environment. She has represented Lithuania since U15 level, is now a U19 international and has already been invited to a senior women's training camp.
'Moving to Gintra is a very important and deliberate career step. It offers development in a high-level organisation, the chance to compete for trophies and test myself internationally. I know the club's objectives and find them highly motivating,' she said.
'I want to keep growing, be a reliable and useful team member and achieve the best results in Lithuania with Gintra. I believe we can regain the Baltic League title and successfully represent Lithuania and Šiauliai in Europe,' the defender added.
Club Director Mantas Radavičius highlighted her potential: 'Aivė is promising, disciplined and already has valuable experience and excellent physical attributes. We see her strong desire to improve and believe this environment will help her flourish. Players like her are important both to today's squad and our future vision.'
Her signing strengthens the balance of youth and experience and reaffirms Gintra's commitment to talented Lithuanian players ready for a higher level.
The team began preparations this week, with the first official Baltic League matches planned for February.
