Another promising player has strengthened multiple Lithuanian champions Gintra of Šiauliai for the coming season. Twenty-year-old defender Aistė Šveckutė joins the yellow and blacks and will wear number 23.
A. Šveckutė has spent recent seasons in the A League with TransINVEST of Vilnius district, finishing national runners-up last year. Her Lithuania youth international experience began at U17 level and continued with the U19 team.
She took her first football steps at FM Vilnius in the regional league, laying solid foundations for her career. She later represented FK Vilnius at levels ranging from the First League to the A League. That period helped her adapt to higher demands and a faster tempo.
'Moving to Gintra is a very important and motivating step. This is a club with deep traditions, a unique history and achievements, a clear direction and a professional approach. I am happy to join because it takes me to a higher level. That is motivating, but also requires responsibility and determination,' A. Šveckutė said after signing.
She is ambitious about the new chapter: 'Personally, I want to make the most of it, give everything in training and matches and help the team. The team's objectives come first: fighting for wins and trophies and trying to surprise people internationally.'
Club Director Mantas Radavičius welcomed another purposeful addition: 'Aistė works hard, is ambitious and already has considerable experience across different career stages. She wants to improve, is disciplined and motivated, and fits our philosophy well. We hope she integrates successfully and becomes a useful part of Gintra. It is encouraging that more Lithuanian players are joining, as investing in them remains a strategic priority.'
The team have already begun preparations for the coming season, with the first official Baltic League matches planned for February.
