Defending champions Gintra began the 2024 Lithuanian Women's A League with a victory.
At home, Gintra 2:0 (1–0 at half-time) defeated newcomers TransINVEST of Vilnius District.

The teams began by sizing each other up. The hosts were slightly more active but created no serious threat in the first ten minutes. Erika Šupelytė had a decent opportunity but shot over.
The champions waited until the 29th minute for their first goal of the season, Laura Kubiliūtė scoring an accurate long-range effort for 1–0.
Gintra then had an excellent chance to double the lead. A defender blocked Kubiliūtė's shot, and the goalkeeper stopped Kazarina's follow-up. The hosts led narrowly at half-time.
The visitors began the second half better, unsettling Gintra and creating equalising chances, but Aušra Klevečkaitė kept a clean sheet.
Substitute striker Meida Proscevičiūtė soon opened her scoring account and doubled the lead. Through one-on-one, she found the net for 2–0. That remained the final score, giving the champions three points from their opening match.
Next week, Gintra host the capital's other club, runners-up MFA Žalgiris-MRU, at Gytariai Stadium on Sunday, 24 March, at 16:00.
