Gintra suffered their second defeat of this A League season. In round 11, the Lithuanian champions unexpectedly 1:3 (0–1 at half-time) lost away to league newcomers Vilnius FK Žalgiris.

The yellow-and-blacks had comfortably won the first meeting in Šiauliai, 6–0.

With two defeats in six rounds played, the team currently sit only third in the table.

Starting lineup:  A. Ulliac, I. Kuku (90' min. sent off), S. Amorim, E. Partikaitė, T. Romanovskaja, L. Kubiliūtė, E. Šupelytė, L. Spenazzatto, C. Caliz, J. Blaževičiūtė, M. Proscevičiūtė.

Goals:

„Žalgiris“: K. Liužinaitė (7' min., 97' min) – 2, A. Pocevičiūtė (89' min.) – 1.

Gintra: S. Amorim (65' min.) – 1.

The opening did not promise an easy afternoon for Gintra. Goalkeeper Annie Ulliac carelessly parried the ball in front of her, and the hosts took advantage of the confusion to lead 1–0 in the eighth minute.

Most of Gintra's first-half attacks ran into a defensive wall. When they did find room to shoot, they lacked composure. Meida Proscevičiūtė missed a fine one-on-one opportunity in the 24th minute. Near half-time, the goalkeeper saved Laura Spenazzatto's powerful effort from inside the area.

The yellow-and-blacks intensified their pressure after the interval but could not find a quick equaliser. A well-executed corner and Sabrina Amorim's accurate header finally restored parity in the 66th minute.

Just as Gintra seemed ready to turn the match around, they frustratingly squandered successive chances. Eitvydė Partikaitė hit the crossbar, Erika Šupelytė's one-on-one effort lacked power, and Tereza Romanovskaja also missed the target.

As time ran out, emotions, mistakes and uncertain decisions crept into Gintra's own half. Idowu Kuku lost her composure and was sent off. A major defensive error then gifted possession to the hosts, who went 2–1 ahead.

Down to ten players, Gintra pushed forward for an equaliser without success. The hosts exploited another counterattack to seal a 3–1 victory.

Next Sunday, the Lithuanian champions will seek to recover away to the capital's other club, current leaders MFA Žalgiris-MRU.
