With the new season approaching, Gintra welcome another newcomer: talented Nigerian midfielder Bunmi David, 19, who is ready to prove herself with the Lithuanian champions.
Bunmi began playing at eight at her hometown academy. She later represented Moje Queens and captained Nigeria's Osun Babes before arriving in Šiauliai. Gintra are her first career challenge outside her homeland.
The midfielder describes herself as a determined player unafraid of tough challenges, with strong one-on-one skills and vision. "Although I'm quite short, opponents' first impressions can be misleading, which often helps me. I don't avoid physical duels and feel strong. Fighting spirit gives me confidence, and coaches always want players who give everything," – the newcomer explained when discussing her strengths.

Bunmi was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and hospitality in Šiauliai: "Lithuania is beautiful, with warm, kind people. I've felt great from day one. The club has a rich trophy history, and the staff and teammates are ready to help with anything. That makes me very optimistic."
She will wear an unfamiliar number here. Her usual number 20 was taken, so she chose 40: "I thought I would need twice as much desire, determination, motivation and energy here, so I decided to double my number," – she smiled.
"She's a young player with considerable motivation and potential. The coaching staff see how to use Bunmi's strengths and believe she will continue improving throughout the season,"– said club director Mantas Radavičius.
The Lithuanian champions play their first competitive match of 2025 away to ambitious Riga RFS in the Baltic League on 8 March. The official team presentation takes place next week.
