Gintra have good news for their supporters: long-serving goalkeeper Greta Lukjančukė is returning to the champions.

After three years away, the 32-year-old will again wear Gintra's colours and defend their goal in her familiar number 12 shirt. The multiple Lithuanian champion has signed until the end of the season.

Greta first joined the Lithuanian champions in 2010 and last represented the Šiauliai club in 2021. She subsequently played for Saned Joniškis and Hegelmann of Kaunas District. The experienced goalkeeper is also a long-serving Lithuanian international and spent 2015–2017 with a club in Naples, Italy.

G. Lukjančukė last played for Gintra in the 2021 season.

"I'm delighted to return to the champions and a club that has always felt like home. Gintra gave me the chance to develop, celebrate many victories and gain invaluable experience. I'm ready to give everything again and help the team pursue ambitious goals in Lithuania and Europe," said Lukjančukė.

Club director Mantas Radavičius welcomed her return, confident that she would provide a major boost.

"Greta is among Lithuania's most experienced players at a high level. She has already proved her ability, and her experience and reliability will provide stability at crucial moments. Her experience will also matter in the dressing room, while her work ethic and dedication set a fine professional example. Her return strengthens us ahead of the summer's biggest challenge, Champions League qualifying in Šiauliai, and helps us return confidently to the A League, where plenty of work also awaits," said Radavičius.

Gintra begin preparations on 7 July for the UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying tournament, hosted in Šiauliai for the third successive year. They face Romanian champions FCV Farul in the semi-final on 27 August. The Ukrainian champions contest the other semi-final against opponents to be confirmed shortly. The final for the sole place in the main UEFA Women's Champions League competition takes place on 30 August at Šiauliai City Stadium.

Failure to reach the group stage would not end Gintra's European season: finishing at least third in the qualifying tournament would allow them to continue in the UEFA Women's Europa Cup.
