Gintra began Rome's Caput Mundi 2024 tournament with victory. After an eventful Group A contest, the Lithuanian champions 3:2 (3–0 at half-time) defeated Ontario's Saltfleet Stoney Creek of Canada.

Tomorrow, Gintra face hosts LND Lazio.

Gintra started much better, controlling play immediately and soon converting their advantage. The goalkeeper saved Saulutė Railaitė's shot, but Agnieška Kazarina reacted first to score her debut Gintra goal for 1–0.

Maintaining their dominance, Gintra doubled the lead through Marija Galkina's accurate header.

Before the break, midfielder Kaya Hawkinson scored her first goal for the Lithuanian champions to make it 3–0.

The Canadians showed character after the interval, first reducing the deficit and then scoring again to leave a fragile 3–2 lead. Gintra resisted their attempts to equalise until the final whistle confirmed victory.
