Gintra return to Baltic League action tomorrow, and on the eve of their restart Šiauliai's leading women's team introduce another addition to the squad.

Canadian winger Tamara Brown joins the Lithuanian champions and will wear the number 24 shirt.

Tamara began her professional career with Mallbackens IF in Sweden before moving to the Greek Super League, where she played for Trikala and Ergotelis.

"I heard many good things about Gintra. The team aims for the very top, which matters a lot to me. I enjoy being part of a group that cares about both individual development and collective results. That is the environment where I can fulfil my potential," said the new signing.

Able to play on the wing or up front, Tamara offers explosive pace, accurate passing and the ability to create advantages. She identifies playing effectively on either flank as a particular strength: "I like playing out wide, where I can use my speed, create chances and deliver crosses from both sides."

The club's ambitions and the chance to discover a new culture drew her to Šiauliai: "I've heard Lithuania is a beautiful country. I'm sure it will be an interesting experience, with new food, people and culture. I can't wait to discover it all for myself."

Before arriving, Tamara spoke with Gintra player Kiyani Johnson, who suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury early in the season. Kiyani's positive impressions helped her decide: "She told me everyone, both players and staff, is warm and friendly. She also said there is plenty to see in Šiauliai."

Her chosen number, 24, symbolises her birthday. The player celebrated her 30th birthday in January.

Club director Mantas Radavičius welcomed the experienced signing: "Tamara is a mature player with considerable experience. The first half of the season showed that we needed greater consistency, confidence and quality in attack. Her style is quick and direct, and her versatility on the flanks gives us additional tactical options. We hope she becomes an important part of the team as our biggest challenges approach."

Brown could make her Gintra debut tomorrow against defending Baltic League champions Flora Tallinn. The match in Tallinn kicks off at 13:00. Watch the live stream via this link.

Šiauliai will host a UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying tournament for the third consecutive year. Gintra face Romanian champions FCV Farul in the semi-final on 27 August. The Ukrainian champions play the other semi-final against opponents to be confirmed shortly. The final for the sole place in the main UEFA Women's Champions League competition takes place on 30 August at Šiauliai City Stadium.

Failure to reach the group stage would not end Gintra's European season: finishing at least third in the qualifying tournament would allow them to continue in the UEFA Women's Europa Cup.
