Lithuanian champions Gintra of Šiauliai continue building their squad after beginning preparations for the new season. Brazilian Sabrina Gonçalves Amorim has extended her contract for another year. The 22-year-old defender will play in Šiauliai for a third consecutive season.
She joined Gintra in 2024 and has become an important member of the team. Sabrina quickly proved her value through consistent, mature and combative performances, versatility and the ability to adapt to different tactical tasks.
Before arriving in Šiauliai, she began her Brazilian career at Barra da Tijuca, then played for Fluminense RJ before joining Corinthians Paulista in 2022. Competing alongside top-level players was important to her development before moving to Europe.
'It feels great to be in a team where I experience trust and professionalism. Šiauliai has become a place where I can grow as a player and a person. I am happy to stay another season, continue our work and pursue further victories in Lithuania and Europe,' S. Amorim said.
Club Director Mantas Radavičius described Sabrina's retention as an important part of the club's direction.
'We are particularly pleased when overseas players want not only to come here, but to stay, establish themselves and build their future with Gintra. Sabrina is reliable and has shown commitment and adaptability to different coaches' tactics and tasks. She is still very young, with considerable potential and good conditions to improve. She understands our ambitions and is ready to move forward with the team,' M. Radavičius said.
The first official matches are planned for February in the Baltic League: RFS of Riga on 15 February and Saku Sporting in Estonia on 22 February.
