Gintra begin the 2024 Lithuanian Women's A League this weekend and introduce another player who will represent the club this season.
Promising Brazilian Sabrina Gonçalves Amorim, 20, has signed for the champions. Able to play in defence or midfield, she will wear number 5.
S. G. Amorim Brazilijoje futbolininkės kelią pradėjo „Barra da Tijuca“ klube, vėliau persikėlė į „Fluminense RJ“, o 2022 metais sulaukė šanso prisijungti prieš aukščiausioje Brazilijos lygoje rungtyniaujančio and 2023 metais šalies čempione tapusios „Corinthians Paulista“ ekipos organizacijos. Gynėjai dėl vietos pagrindinės komandos sudėtyje teko konkuruoti net su Brazilijos nacionalinės moterų futbolo rinktinės žaidėjomis. Sabrina džiaugiasi įgyta patirtimi and išmoktomis pamokomis, tačiau pripažino, kad jau kurį laiką brandino idėją išvykti rungtyniauti į Europą and pradėti legionierės karjerą.
Immediately after arriving in Šiauliai, she completed her first session and shared her impressions.
"I feel very good after training. There is much to learn and understand, but I feel support from the coaches and teammates. Everyone is positive, so I expect to adapt quickly. It was a long journey, and I'm happy finally to join after waiting so long. I see my future here, want to learn and can't wait to compete for victories," Sabrina smiled.
"I'd followed the club and seen Champions League performances. I know it's a winning domestic team. Everything is new: the weather, league and expectations I also set myself. I promise to give everything. Collective results always come before personal ambitions," she continued.
Portuguese-speaking Sabrina acknowledged another challenge off the pitch.
"I'll work on my English. It's important for understanding coaches and teammates and for integrating into life in Lithuania," she said.

Other Brazilians, including Isadora Freitas and twins Kelen and Karen Bender, have played for Gintra. Asked whether she sought their recommendations, Sabrina said they had not spoken.
"I didn't know that. I might have contacted them, although I don't know them personally. I researched the club and country online and through social media. What I found gave me a positive impression, so I decided to take my chance," she said.
Welcoming Sabrina, director Mantas Radavičius highlighted her youth, talent and hunger for match experience.
"Sabrina is an interesting player who we believe can pleasantly surprise us. Brazil's football education is world-class; discovering each player's potential is the key question. She's had limited recent playing time, so she's especially motivated to settle and get on the pitch," he explained.
Gintra host newcomers TransINVEST in their Women's A League opener this Saturday, 16 March, at Gytariai Stadium at 17:00. Come and support the team!
