As the biggest matches approach, Gintra are completing their squad with American centre-back Natali 'Nano' Oronoz, 26, who stands 172 cm and will wear number 3.

The athletic Californian has arrived, met the coaches and teammates, and eagerly awaits her competitive debut.

"It was a long journey, but I'm here and ready to enjoy a new experience. I'm happy to join an ambitious team and ready to repay their trust and contribute to the many victories I believe we'll achieve," she said energetically.

She arrives from Portugal, where she ranked among the five defenders winning the most duels. Unpleasant experiences at her previous club prompted a new challenge, and she had other offers. Gintra's stability and winning reputation decided her choice.

"Considering everything, I felt Gintra were the best option: a reliable organisation consistently pursuing top goals, with a long winning history. Recommendations matched my expectations, so I packed my bags, especially with all the competitions still ahead," she said.

Nano loved sport from age four, trying activities from basketball to softball. At eleven she committed to football, later receiving a scholarship to study and develop in California. She twice won the Big West college championship with CSUF, inspiring further ambition.

For several years she has also coached children. She holds a coaching qualification and sees that career as a future priority.

She draws inspiration from Virgil van Dijk: "Watching his consistency and composure helps me aim for the same defensive focus. I want to become the female version of Van Dijk. I admire him on and off the pitch."

"Nano's strength, athleticism and aerial ability in both penalty areas give us more options. She's mobile and versatile, with experience in midfield and attack. Her experience and football intelligence can add further value. We hope she'll fulfil her potential here," said director Mantas Radavičius.

Nano could debut tomorrow in the Baltic League semi-final against Riga SFK at Šiauliai Central Stadium at 18:00. Admission is free: support Gintra on the road to the final!
