Gintra completed the Caput Mundi 2024 group stage in Rome with a win and advanced to the final. Winning all three Group A matches, they 2:1 (0–1 at half-time) defeated the Wales colleges representative team in their final group fixture.

The Lithuanian champions face Group B winners England colleges in the final tomorrow, 1 March.

Unlike previous matches, Gintra had to come from behind after their opponents scored early. Despite several good first-half chances to restore parity, they could not do so before the break.

Gintra then took complete control, pinning Wales back. Striker Meida Proscevičiūtė escaped the defenders and equalised for 1–1.

A draw would have been enough to reach the final, but Gintra wanted more. Maintaining their pressure, they found the winner through Agnieška Kazarina for 2–1.
