Gintra have found the defensive reinforcement they sought: American Rachel 'Ruby' Diodati, 22, has joined.
The Boston-born centre-back fills the team's biggest gap and has already completed her first training session.
Although her passport name is Rachel, she introduced herself as Ruby. The nickname dates from school, and public sources also refer to her as Ruby Diodati.
Her Italian-sounding surname reflects family roots inherited from her great-grandparents.
Ruby turns 23 in June and completed a master's degree at Michigan State University in 2022. Excellent performances earned conference defender-of-the-year recognition and an invitation to Los Angeles' Angel City training camp. In fierce competition, she faced leading graduates and experienced players seeking a contract at one of the USA's top twelve clubs.
During camp and friendlies, she also met US national-team players under contract with Angel City.

"We knew our gaps and sought a strong foundation, so the process took time. We're pleased to agree with Ruby, who we believe can become a defensive pillar. She's athletic, physically strong and explosively quick, with technical skills. She led a strong university team, reflected in individual awards and NWSL interest," said director Mantas Radavičius.
Ruby could debut this Sunday away to FK Vilnius at 17:00. Watch live on FIFA+ by clicking HERE.
