As Gintra complete their squad ahead of the new season, the club announce another impressive addition: Canadian striker Kiyani Johnson, 27. She represented European women's football heavyweight Sparta Prague in the 2023–2024 season.

Kiyani began playing at just four and developed a reputation for her attacking talent and skills. She scored 31 goals at university before turning professional in Greece, where she was highly prolific over two seasons. She then moved to the Czech Republic and continued scoring for renowned club Sparta Prague.

Gintra's new forward offers speed and effective one-on-one play, feeling most comfortable as a central striker: "I like creating chances and leading the team with goals. I hope my pace and direct runs will strengthen our attack," Johnson said after joining.

"A former Gintra player's recommendation helped me choose the club. She spoke very highly of the organisation and said it would suit me because the team wins and aims for the highest goals domestically and internationally," Kiyani explained.

Johnson is pleased to be in Šiauliai: "I've heard Lithuania is beautiful and Šiauliai is called the City of the Sun, which sounds special. I know Gintra are one of the strongest teams in the country with winning in their DNA. I can't wait to become part of that story and help continue it."

The Canadian chose number 19, which has special meaning: "When I first wore it in Greece, I was going through a difficult period, but it helped me rediscover belief in myself. Since then, 19 has symbolised that transformative journey."

Club director Mantas Radavičius believes the signing adds versatility and attacking strength: "Kiyani has exceptional talent and skills, with experience at strong European clubs. We know the quality of Sparta Prague, and players don't get there by accident. We believe she can become a cornerstone of our attack and help us pursue the highest goals."

Johnson could debut this Saturday when Gintra play their first competitive match of 2025, away to Riga RFS in the Baltic League.
