Gintra opened the 2025 Women's A League season with a convincing home victory. With snow covering the pitch in the opening round, the Šiauliai side 6:0 (3–0 at half-time) defeated league newcomers Vilnius FK Žalgiris.

Gintra: L. Spenazzatto (30' min., 64' min), – 2, K. Johnson (1' min.), E. Šupelytė (37' min.), V. Igbonoba (46' min.) and T. Romanovskaja (55' min.) one each.
Gintra scored in the very first minute. Kiyani Johnson broke through one-on-one and found the net to open the team's scoring account for the season and make it 1–0.
The champions waited half an hour for their second. Brazilian Laura Spenazzatto was in the right place inside the penalty area to double the lead.
Before the interval, last season's A League player of the year Erika Šupelytė added a third for 3–0.
Little changed after the break: the hosts dominated, scored three more in the remaining 45 minutes and celebrated a deserved 6–0 win.
Next weekend, Gintra host the capital's other club, national runners-up MFA Žalgiris-MRU. Kick-off at Gytariai's artificial-turf stadium is at 17:00.
