Gintra began the 2023 season with a home Baltic Women's Football League victory, 1:0 (0–0 at half-time) defeating Latvian champions Riga SFK.

Lineup: A. Bikutė, T. Romanovskaja, A. Mikutaitė, A. Sunday, L. Kubiliūtė, E. Šupelytė (88' min. S. Railaitė), M. Galkina, J. Bassey, N. Klezaitė (50 min. G. Raznauskaitė), J. Sunday, M. Proscevičiūtė (67' min. S. Lichareva).

Goals: J. Sunday (66' min.) – 1.

The teams faced harsh sub-zero conditions. The refreshed Lithuanian champions began more actively. Juliet Sunday troubled the left flank, but defenders or the goalkeeper stopped her shots, while sharp passes became caught in the compact defence.

Bassey had one of the clearest mid-half chances, heading from a set piece, but the goalkeeper reacted brilliantly. A fine Proscevičiūtė–Galkina combination then created a chance for Neda Klezaitė, again saved.

Riga tried counterattacking after Gintra errors, but reliable defenders and goalkeeper Bikutė extinguished every attack. The first half ended goalless.

Gintra pressed immediately after the restart. Sunday soon shot narrowly wide, then finally broke through in the 66th minute with a long-range effort that deceived the goalkeeper for 1–0.

The hosts created more dangerous situations in the remaining twenty-plus minutes but could not score again. Their first Baltic League win of the season earned three points.

Second-half substitutions brought Gintarė Raznauskaitė on for Klezaitė and Santa Lichareva for Proscevičiūtė.
