After a prolonged search, Gintra have found a second goalkeeper to partner Aušrinė Bikutė.
American Adrianna Schroeder, who has just turned 23, signed until the season's end and will wear number 95.
She graduated last year from Dallas Baptist University, where she played for several years. Gintra are her first professional club.
"I thank the management for believing in me and welcoming me so warmly. I was surprised by the cold, but my teammates say it gets warmer from now on; I hope they weren't lying [smiles]. It's an honour to represent such a decorated club, and I hope to contribute significantly this season," said the 177 cm goalkeeper.
Asked about European connections because her surname is common in Germany, she said she has no relatives on the continent.
"I've been asked before because of my surname, but have no close European relatives. From what I've learned, the roots probably go back to distant ancestors," she explained.
"The market is narrow, so our search took time. We looked in Lithuania first, then expanded abroad. Adrianna is young but full of desire and motivation, our current priorities. We want players hungry to win, prove themselves and give everything to the team. We believe she fits our philosophy and will partner the steadily improving Aušrinė well," said director Mantas Radavičius.
She could debut tomorrow against FK Vilnius in the Winter Cup at Marijampolė's Hikvision arena at 17:00.
